The Saskatchewan Roughriders' kicking game will have a new look this week with 25-year-old rookie Campbell Fair entering the lineup for the injured Brett Lauther. Fair signed with the Riders in August and is eager for the opportunity, which Special Teams Coordinator Kent Maugeri says is well earned.

“Oh, he's been awesome, and he's the ultimate pro. You see him out here staying after practice; he does everything we ask of him. He's working to get better in all phases, so he's got a bright future. He's gonna be a kicker in this league.

Fair has been able to split the uprights from 58 yards in practice, and Maugeri knows the 25-year-old has a great leg.

“He's long levered, so he generates a lot of power. He gets great lift on the ball and has good rotation. So when you're a good ball striker, it doesn't move a ton in the wind. And this place is tricky to kick in; the CFL is period because of the wind. But those guys who are elite ball strikers, the ball doesn't drift a ton either way, and he's got a lot of power and consistency. So he's getting there, he's working hard.”

You can hear Fair’s debut across the 620 CKRM Cooperators Rider Broadcast Network, starting with Countdown to Kickoff at 2:30 p.m.
