NEW BRUNSWICK REPS WIN GOLD WITH DOMINANT EFFORT IN CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL
Team New Brunswick rolled past Quebec 8-1 Sunday at Currie Field to win the gold medal at the Men’s National Baseball Championships in Regina.
New Brunswick jumped out early with three runs in the first inning and added three more in the third, highlighted by a Nick MacPhail home run and a two-run single from Simon Dubois. Josh Myers sealed the win with a two-run homer in the sixth.
Jordan Stevenson went the distance on the mound, allowing just three hits and one run over seven innings. Myers finished with three RBIs, while MacPhail, Myers, and Dubois each had two hits.
Quebec managed just three hits, with Josue Jesus Peley driving in their lone run.
TEAM SASKATCHEWAN HAMMERS HOST REGINA TRAPPERS TO EARN BRONZE
Team Saskatchewan exploded for 10 runs in the third inning on their way to a 13-3 win over host Regina Trappers to capture the bronze medal Saskatchewan on Sunday.
Dylan Solie delivered the big hit of the inning with a three-run double and also earned the win on the mound, allowing three runs over six innings. Lucas Geisler went 3-for-3, while Solie drove in four runs to pace Saskatchewan’s 15-hit attack.
Host Saskatchewan took an early 2-0 lead on RBIs from Nolan Bracken and Griffin Keller but couldn’t hold off the rally.
Kendall Keller and Dylan Edmands each had two hits in the loss.
Both teams dropped semi-final matchups to New Brunswick and Quebec earlier in the day to drop to the third place game.
