The host Regina Trappers improved their record to 3 and 0 after a pair of victories on Friday.
The Saskatchewan-based club rolled past Alberta 10–4 before staging a late rally to beat Manitoba 6–4 in extra innings.
In the early game, Geordie McDougall’s sixth-inning grand slam powered Saskatchewan in the opener while Brody Vogel added a solo homer and starter Thomas Lessmeister and reliever Takao Cookson combined to hold Alberta in check.
In the nightcap, Saskatchewan erased a 4–0 hole, tying the game in the sixth before Vogel’s two-run homer in the eighth sealed the comeback. Gavin Wuschke worked seven innings, giving up just one earned run, and Kody Rock struck out three to close out the win.
With their three straight wins, the hosts have clinched top spot in pool B and have earned a bye into Sunday’s semi-finals.
The Trappers wrap up pool play Saturday at Noon at Currie Field against Ontario.
Saskatchewan splits on Friday to sit at 2-1 after day two
Saskatchewan’s men’s team experienced both sides of the scoreboard on Friday, falling 7–4 to Ontario 2 before rallying for a 9–5 win over New Brunswick in their second game.
Ontario 2 pulled away with a five-run fourth inning after Saskatchewan had tied the game 2–2. Tom Hooker, Kobe Kindrachuk, and Carter Boehm led Saskatchewan with two hits each, while starter Dylan Solie surrendered seven runs over 3 1/3 innings.
Saskatchewan bounced back in game two, erasing an early 5–0 deficit.
Dylan Solie and Cole Warken keyed the comeback in the fifth before Josh Cleggett and Lucas Geisler delivered back-to-back triples in the sixth to put the team ahead for good.
The Balcarres duo of Geisler and Cleggett finished with three hits each, while Solie drove in three runs. Relievers Andrew Baum and Nick Anderson held New Brunswick scoreless over the final five innings.
Saskatchewan, who has a 2 and 1 record, faces British Columbia on Saturday at 9:00 AM.
