Coaches Lowes and Kitchen said the weather was sunny and warm for districts “but some of the athletes would say a little too hot for competing. Regardless of the heat, that did not stop them from putting 100 per cent effort into every event they competed in. We brought home a lot of medals, top-six ribbons, and personal best times or distances.”
Five CCS athletes qualified to attend provincial track-and-field championships in Moose Jaw on June 6 and 7:
Matthew Makowsky – discus and high jump
Jackson Palagian – 100m and 200m
Danielle Dutchak – 80m hurdles
Maddy Dutchak – discus
Isabelle Chabun – discus
“With Easter break being late this year and the weather being a little cooler at the end of April, this track and field season felt a little shorter or more rushed than usual,” said the coaches. “We are very fortunate to have dedicated students that see the value in practicing and using all available opportunities to improve and push themselves to see what they are truly capable of. We hope to see more of our athletes attending provincials next year!”
