The Yorkton Terriers rode a three-goal first period to their second straight victory Wednesday, defeating the Flin Flon Bombers 5-2 at Westland Arena.
Thomas Ries, Mattias Schoffner, and William Leonard each scored power-play goals in the opening frame to give Yorkton a commanding 3-0 lead after 20 minutes. Leonard added his second of the night—and fifth of the season—in the middle period, while Gabriel Courchesne capped the scoring late in the third.
Maverick Deslisle and Joes Lies replied for Flin Flon with a pair of third-period power-play markers.
Goaltender Alexandro Montoya was stellar again for the Terriers, turning aside 47 of 49 shots for his second straight win. Matthew Bradley stopped 28 shots in the loss for the Bombers.
The Terriers now turn their attention to a home-and-home series this weekend against the defending SJHL champion Melfort Mustangs, starting Friday night in Yorkton.
Elsewhere in the SJHL:
Colton Getzlaff tied the game with one second left, and Rylan Williams scored the shootout winner as the Estevan Bruins edged the Kindersley Klippers 4-3.
Carter Onrait and Ewan Rennie also found the net for Estevan, while Avery Johnson, Ethan Sautner, and Cam Perlinger scored for Kindersley.
Bruins goaltender Dylan Adams made 29 saves for the win, while Brett O’Halloran stopped 41 shots in a strong effort for the Klippers.
Kindersley wraps up their four-game road swing with a weekend doubleheader in Melville against the Millionaires—Friday and Saturday, both at 7:00 PM.
