SJHL ROUNDUP: three home teams victorious on Saturday night

The Yorkton Terriers snapped a two-game skid in dramatic fashion Saturday night, erupting for five goals in the third period to down the Melville Millionaires 6–3 at the CN Community Centre.

The Yorkton Terriers snapped a two-game skid in dramatic fashion Saturday night, erupting for five goals in the third period to down the Melville Millionaires 6–3 at the CN Community Centre.

William Leonard led the charge for Yorkton with a pair of goals, while Jye Zawatsky chipped in a goal and two assists for a three-point performance. Mattias Schoffner, Drew Heil, and Vinay Junek also found the back of the net as the Terriers earned their third win of the season.

For Melville, Preston Baerwald, Devin Winder, and Keil Schmalz — making his debut as a Millionaire — tallied in the loss.

Between the pipes, rookie goaltender Alexandro Montoya turned aside 40 of 43 shots to collect his first career SJHL victory. At the other end, Kael Svenson stopped 24 shots for the Millionaires.

Yorkton returns home Wednesday to face the Flin Flon Bombers, while Melville hosts the Kindersley Klippers for back-to-back games beginning Friday night.

Ewan Rennie scored twice and Dylan Adams made 31 saves as the Bruins skated to a 5–2 home win over Melfort.

Kindersley rebounded from Friday’s loss to edge La Ronge 3–2 at home. Brock Evans and Avery Johnson each posted a goal and an assist in the victory.

Humboldt Broncos 6, Battlefords North Stars 0
Charlie Tritt stopped all 35 shots for his league-leading third shutout of the season, backstopping Humboldt to a dominant 6–0 win. Avery Lowe scored twice as the Broncos went 4-for-7 on the power play.
