Hockey Canada and the Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL) have announced that Melfort Mustangs head coach and general manager Trevor Blevins will take the reins of Team Canada West at the 2025 World Junior A Challenge, set for Dec. 7–13 in Trois-Rivières, Québec.

Joining him on the bench will be Carter Hansen of the Humboldt Broncos, who has been named Canada West video coach for the tournament.

Blevins, coming off a standout 2024–25 season where he guided Melfort to a league-best 46-8-0-2 record and back-to-back SJHL championships, also earned CJHL Coach of the Year honours. Hansen has played a key role in Humboldt’s continued success and development across the league.

The 2025 World Junior A Challenge will feature Canada East, Canada West, the United States, and Sweden, with all games streamed live on HNLive.ca.

Canada West opens pre-tournament play Dec. 5 against the U.S. before the official puck drop Dec. 7 in Trois-Rivières.
