It may seem like it just started, but Saskatchewan Roughriders training camp is winding down with hopefuls running out of time to make an impression on the coaching staff.

Legendary Quarterback Darian Durant was on the SportsCage yesterday, and he says that all football players know what to do to make that impression.

“They always tell the guys, if you want to stand out, get out there on special teams and make plays.”

So, did Durant ever try to make a roster by making a statement on Special Teams?

“You know what's crazy? I did. When I went as a free agent to the Baltimore Ravens, they had me catching punts for the first time in my life, just catching punts, not returning, because there's no way I could do that. But I was at practice catching punts off the jug machine, and I dislocated my finger. Luckily, it was on my non-throwing hand in one of those drills. So, at that point in time, a five-foot-eleven quarterback was kind of unheard of, so I was trying to do anything and everything I could to make the team.”
