Over the course of a football game, there are many stiff arms. The most notable in the Saskatchewan Roughriders' 27-19 win over Toronto came at the end of the game. As the Riders were clinching first place in the CFL’s West Division, receiver Shawn Bane Junior and defensive lineman Micah Johnson prepared to douse head coach Corey Mace with Gatorade in recognition of the achievement. However, the coach had other plans, delivering a stiff arm and stopping the celebration. So did Bane get a talking to from the coach after the missed shower opportunity?

“I was talking to Micah. He was like, Man, we're going to do it. I was like, we're going to do it? He was like, yeah, let's do it. Mace gave us a nice little stiff arm. That was pretty funny. When he explained himself afterwards, I was like, yeah, it makes sense. You know, it's not the dance. So for what?”

Bane says that it was an important message from the coach.

"Like this, a stepping stone. We've got bigger things we want to accomplish.”

The Riders are back in action on Friday night while playing the Blue Bombers in Winnipeg.
