The Saskatchewan Roughriders will play the Winnipeg Blue Bombers tonight, and for just the second time this season, Jake Maier will start at quarterback for the Green and White. All told, Maier has started 46 games in his five-year career, and he admits that playing behind Trevor Harris this season has been different.
“I've observed a lot, probably more than I ever have. It goes beyond staying on the sidelines and watching the game from that point of view. It's the week-to-week preparation; it's seeing the offence and the team continue to build and see what that looks like following the lead of Trevor and his leadership.”
Maier added, “Taking little things here and there. The example that he's setting every single day is something that I've really appreciated. Again, that's just from observing how he handles his business. I tell him all the time that I'm super grateful for him being a part of my career now and me being a part of his. Observing a great culture, a great coaching staff, and a great veteran quarterback, who's probably a Hall of Famer, like being a part of that every day has been really special.”
