TSN analyst Glen Suitor recalled the 2019 Grey Cup when Urban played at halftime and joined Suitor and his partner Chris Cuthbert in the broadcast booth.
“He walks in the door to do the promo. And he goes, “Hey, Chris, love your hockey as well. Been watching football.” I don't know if his people prepped him or if he just did a little Google search or what he did. But when he came up in the booth, here’s this big star from Nashville coming up, and he knows Chris and his hockey and football background.”
“And then he turns to me. I haven't introduced myself yet. He says, “Glenn, how are you doing? And I know it's your birthday, so we're singing you happy birthday.” Because the Grey Cup fell on my birthday. So, in the middle of the game, Keith Urban sings Happy Birthday on national television. And I'm going, how cool is it for Keith Urban to either ask his people to fill him in on the guys he's going to do an interview with or do it himself? I don't know how that went down, but he knew a lot about us and our careers when he walked in the door. I thought that was pretty cool.”
