There’s one more sleep until the Canadian Football League holds its annual draft. Over the weekend, the National Football League’s draft wrapped up. Medicine Hat native Elic Ayomanor, whose family farms near Kincaid Saskatchewan, was taken in the fourth round by the Tennessee Tittans.

Going into the draft, he was unsure who might take him.

“It's hard to tell who's going to pick you, because you interview with almost every single team, and so it is hard to get a handle on which team likes you the most. Even from the older guys that have already been drafted, they say oftentimes the team that talks you the least is the one that drafts you, because they had the least questions about you, so they didn't have to talk to you as much. So I really have no idea who's going to pick me.”

Ayomanor was back home, waiting for his name to be called. His mom had planned a draft party, and he was hoping for one menu item in particular.

“I think she's probably going to cook some oxtail on draft day, which is my favourite. I wouldn't know how to duplicate it, but I know it's definitely a stew. How she does it, I’m pretty unsure.”
