The Saskatchewan Roughriders have punched their ticket to the postseason, but they're not exactly happy about it. The Riders knew they'd clinch a playoff spot if they beat Montreal on Saturday. However, before taking the field, the Riders learned that they were in thanks to losses by Edmonton and Winnipeg. The Green and White were then soundly beaten by Montreal, 48-31.
Saskatchewan is now on a bye week, and running back AJ Ouellette says it's an opportunity to prepare for the remainder of the season.
"Just building confidence as a team, right? You want to go into the playoffs playing your best football. We don't want to peak too early, so we want to continue improving, go one week at a time, and make sure we're the best team going into the playoffs."
And how will Ouellette be spending his time off?
"Chilling for the first couple of days. I'm going to hang out here, watch a little bit of film, and recover, and then I think we will go on a little cabin trip with a couple of the guys, who are three hours northeast of here, still in Saskatchewan, not Manitoba—going to enjoy the land. Hopefully, there's a lake around there. I'm not too sure about the area yet. Do some fishing and hunting, maybe."
The Riders return to action September 27th in Edmonton.
