In the immortal words of Pat Benatar, “Hit me with your best shot.”
Emotions and intensity ramped up at the Saskatchewan Roughriders training camp yesterday as the players strapped on their pads for the first time.
The emotions peaked when a fight broke out, sending a pair of players off the field. TSN’s Glen Suitor was on the SportsCage and said that kind of thing happens, even when he is playing.
“I would be the dumb guy who would get in a fight with Ray Elgaard about practice day five or six every year. I would deliberately call it what it is, a cheap shot on Ray Elgaard, and I knew he'd get up swinging. But in my mind, it was a way to, maybe it wasn't a smart way, but it was a way to get the coach's attention so he'd break that fight up.”
Suitor added, “It was always a quick fight, by the way, me hitting the ground quickly, but it was to get their attention and it was to get the attention of Ray, to earn his respect like I'm going to be here.”
