The Regina Red Sox will open the Western Canadian Baseball League's final series at home tonight when they host Sylvan Lake in Game one of the best-of-three series. The Saskatchewan Roughriders will be rooting for the Red Sox, but what if the Sox needed a pinch hitter to enter the ball game? Which Saskatchewan Roughriders player would Coach Mace send in?
"I don't know. I wouldn't say anybody, truthfully. Rumours have it that Joe Robustelli played some baseball in his time. I can't confirm that, so I'm just going to say Joe. But I don't know. I don't know," said Coach Mace.
Would defensive back Marcus Sayles go in?
"If they need me, I can do it all. I can do it all if you need me," replied Sayles.
Speedster Tavon Campbell would definitely be a candidate as a pinch runner, but can he hit?
"I'll do my best. I'll do my best," Campbell assured.
So Joe Robustelli, is Coach Mace right to pick you to go in?
"Smart man. He's a smart man. Yeah, I'd go in there. I think, you know, I think I'd go out there and bat maybe like .200. I think I'd be okay. I got some baseball experience, but no, I'm sure those guys are elite. But, I mean, I'd like to go out there and see what I can do," Robustelli stated.
