Between The Lines: Patience is a virtue

You know the old saying that patience is a virtue? Well, let's just say that that was put to the test at Mosaic Stadium this weekend, where the Saskatchewan Roughriders, Calgary Stampeders, and fans from across Rider Nation endured a 19-hour delay due to air quality concerns.

In the stadium, some fans played along with various activities and fun on the Maxtron, while others entertained themselves with can stacking and other forms of fun.

Riders receiver Joe Robostelli shared what he did.

“You try to stay as locked in as possible. You know, they come down until, you know, it's a 30-minute delay, so you try to stay locked in. But, as time goes on, it's just kind of, you kind of feel that, you know, the game may not happen, it might not. And then, you know, during the preseason, we dealt with the same thing, where you feel like it's not going to happen, and then it does. So you never know what's going to happen, and you just try to stay as locked in as possible. Listen to music. You know, there's probably three different genres that went on throughout the night, just trying to have a good time, stay locked in, and keep the energy high.”

Green and white defensive back C.J. Rivas said he did a little bit of everything during the delay. “A little bit of stretching, a little bit of just talking over the game plan still. After about an hour or so, though, we started playing music, you know, had some karaoke going on, some freestyling going on. You know, we were just trying to stay in it, you know, stay energized, you know, because it was kind of tough being in the locker room for a long period of time.”

The Riders are back in action on Saturday when they play in B.C.
