Between The Lines: Let's Get Physical

If you're near Mosaic Stadium, I bet you hear the sounds of Olivia Newton-John.

That's because the theme this week for the Saskatchewan Roughriders is "Let's Get Physical."

In the Riders' lone loss of the season back in Week 6 to Calgary, head coach Corey Mace felt that the Green and White were out-physicaled by the Stampeders. I asked Riders offensive lineman Jacob Bramer if that's the ultimate insult to an offensive lineman.

"It is an insult for sure. And like we all felt, we took it all personally, like, yeah, like we knew as a team we got beat physically, not just across the whole line, the whole team. So, from that game on, we just try to create the mindset that we want to be physical in our group, not even in our group, but just the whole team. So yeah."

Since that 24-10 loss to the Stamps on July 12th, the Riders’ defensive line has adopted the term "bully ball."

Shane Ray explains, "We just try to bring a physical style of football out here in Saskatchewan. We want to be the most physical team every week and bring it to teams."

The Riders and the Stamps play Saturday at 5 in Calgary.
