Canadian Football League training camps allow athletes to show what they’ve got to earn a professional football job.

Saskatchewan Roughriders’ receiver Joe Robustelli was a late addition to the Green and White last season. He spent the year working on his craft on the practice roster until he was inserted into the line-up for the team’s final regular season game against Calgary. Robustelli told the SportsCage that game experience motivated him throughout the off-season.

“Big time, big time. I think if you go look at the film, I left a little bit out on the field. I wish I could have had some of the plays back, but I think I kind of felt the game and felt I could hang here. And I think if there was a little more work that was done in the offseason, I could excel at a very high level. I think I still have a lot of work to do, but I'm excited to progress and keep going.”

Robustelli has been making the most of his opportunities in training camp and is currently riding a touchdown streak of five straight practices.

Roughriders Training Camp continues in Saskatoon until May 23.
