One of the most captivating aspects of music is the emotions and memories it can evoke. When yours truly hears John Denver's 'Country Roads, Take Me Home,' my memory takes me to Saskatchewan Roughriders returner and West Virginia University grad Mario Alford, which he says is okay by him.

"No, it's perfect. You know, I feel like when they play that song, it hits home so well, you know what I mean? Obviously, I understand, so I'm glad you think of me though."

For me, they played the song in Winnipeg in the preseason, and Alford had the biggest smile on his face with the blaring song that takes him home.

"Yeah, I swear every time I hear that song, it just reminds me, you know, West Virginia. After the game, especially when we win a game, at the game, during my time, when we won a game, we would just go as a team and stand and look at the crowd. It's a beautiful thing, just saying that song, the crowd playing it, hits home every time."
