The Saskatchewan Roughriders will return to action from their bye week this Saturday when they host Hamilton.
During the bye, some of the team’s attention shifted to former teammate receiver Ajou Ajou, who got his first taste of NFL Preseason action when he made three receptions for 18 yards in the Indianapolis Colts' first preseason game.
Ajou joined the SportsCage and talked about the message from his coaches.
“Just always be ready. You've got to make the most of your opportunities, and you never know when that opportunity is going to come. You've got to do what you’ve got to do. You’ve got to know the playbook and don’t dwell on past situations. If a play goes bad, it's got to be a next-play mentality.”
Ajou was also asked about the adjustments that he’s had to make from the CFL to the NFL game.
“Not much of an adjustment, just playing faster. Off the line, you’ve got a guy right in your face playing press coverage. Other than that, football is football to me.”
Last season, Ajou caught the eye of many with the physicality he brought to the Riders' receiver group, which he says is part of his identity.
“Coach used to tell me that blocking is 10 percent technique and 90 percent want to. It’s not a thing about practicing blocking, you just have to want to block for your brother, and you just want to see him win and do anything for that to happen.”
Ajou and the Indianapolis Colts continue their preseason on Saturday when they take on Green Bay.
