If you had predicted the first quarterback controversy to emerge in week 8 of the CFL season, congratulations—you're correct. The Edmonton Elks are deciding between Tre Ford and Cody Fajardo for Friday's game against the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Elks head coach Mark Killam says he won't make his decision until he has to.
But on press coverage on the SportsCage, Glenn Suitor has an idea of what Killam will do.
"I think they're going to make a change. I don't know that it's fair. My biggest surprise this season of any team is the underachieving defence in Edmonton. The names on that defence are just too good and too big, and the resume too nice to be playing as poorly as they're playing. So, I think that's the biggest story in Edmonton right now, and it's not Trey Ford that is the issue. However, they've got to win. It's not Mark Killam's issue because he's brand new, but he's kind of carrying the last three years with him too. I mean, there's pressure on that team. They've got to figure something out. I would not be surprised at all to see Cody start that game."
The Riders and Elks play Friday at Mosaic Stadium. Our 620 CKRM Cooperators Rider Broadcast Network coverage begins at 4 with the countdown to kickoff.
