On Monday, Saskatchewan Roughriders defensive lineman Lake Korte-Moore announced on social media that his season was over due to a knee injury that he sustained on July 26 against Edmonton.
“Not the post I ever wanted to make… unfortunately I’ve torn my ACL and won’t be playing for the rest of the 2025 season. This has been tough to process, especially knowing I won’t be able to battle on the field with such a special group of guys who I call my brothers as we chase for the Grey Cup.”
Korte-Moore was selected by the Riders in the first round, third overall, of the 2023 CFL draft. His Instagram post with a photo from a hospital bed indicated that he was willing to do what it took to return to the team.
“This isn’t the end — it’s just a different chapter. I’ll be working my tail off to come back stronger and faster to be ready for next season. In the meantime, I’ll do everything I can off the field to support my brothers and make sure we bring a Grey Cup back home to Saskatchewan."
Korte-Moore went down after an awkward, non-contact step on a kick-cover team game at Mosaic Stadium when Saskatchewan was hosting the Edmonton Elks.
Korte-Moore will cheer his teammates on when the 8-1 Saskatchewan Roughriders are back in action on Saturday when the Green and White play the 6-3 Stampeders in Calgary. Teagan Witko, Justin Dunk and Wes Cates bring you the pre-game show at 2 p.m. Dave Thomas and Luc Mullinder have the game call at 5 p.m. You can hear extensive coverage on the 620 CKRM Co-operators Rider Broadcast Network.
