Sask Sport has named Saskatoon athlete Ashlyn Renneberg their September Athlete of the Month.
Renneberg broke two World Para Athletics Championships records to earn September Athlete of the Month honours.
In her first time competing at the championships, Renneberg set a new Canadian and Americas continental record in the women’s F13 javelin with a distance of 33.20 metres.
Overall, Renneberg finished in seventh place and broke her previous personal best and national record of 31.59 m.
The 19-year-old Renneberg was diagnosed with a brain tumour at the age of 13 that led to vision loss. Since then, she has inspired other athletes and excelled at javelin, competing at various national and international events, including the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games.
