PREECEVILLE — The Peewee football program, which started up again in Preeceville in April, brought together 16 players from Grades 4 and 7 from Preeceville, Sturgis, Norquay and Invermay, all with the same goal: to learn, have fun and get active.
Peewee football is all about learning the fundamentals at the same time as having fun and building solid friendships that make a great team, stated coach James Dodge.
Football is focused on building players, creating a team atmosphere and building that brotherhood that will last a lifetime. It is great to see so much interest in the sport. There has been a great response from players and parents who have really stepped up with the players to support the program.
Preeceville has travelled to Yorkton to attend a football jamboree, playing well against the more well-established Yorkton team.
“For having limited practice time, the team played well and exceeded all our expectations. Some players have never played football and getting everyone out to play is fundamental to building a strong team. The peewees are looking forward to getting back on the field and possibly face Yorkton once again, either in Yorkton or in Preeceville,” concluded Dodge.
