Colby Stanley crowned CPCA’s 2025 Champion at Lloydminster

The Canadian Professional Chuckwagon Association held the Finals Aug. 20 to 24 in Lloydminster.

LLOYDMINSTER — After five nights of excitement at the Lloydminster Exhibition, Colby Stanley cashed in after winning the final heat at the Canadian Professional Chuckwagon Association finals, Aug. 24.

Stanley, who resides in Meadow Lake with his wife and four boys, was a CPCA rookie in 2021. With previous knowledge of racing in the pony chuckwagons and chariots, Stanley has moved up in the world of the big wagons rather quickly. He came into the finals in seventh place, and at only 30 years old, the driver won his first Canadian title at the CPCA Finals Dash 4 Cash, earning a $25,000 payout, while honouring his late uncle Kirby Stanley by wearing his signature orange.

Another winner on Sunday was the high point driver, with 1,083 points, which was awarded to Brad McMann of Chauvin, Alta. He won the brand-new Ray Mitsuing Dodge Ram. McMann said Mitsuing, who passed away in May 2024, mentored him during his early years with the big wagons and was excited to take Momma Jo, the late driver’s wife, for a drive around the track to honour the Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame inductee.

Wyatt Dyck, who outrides for his dad Dallas, was also the season’s high point outrider with 4,770 points and was the Fan’s Choice Award for outrider.

After the five-day event, fans had the opportunity to meet the drivers and outriders following the Sunday afternoon awards, while getting autographs and posters.
