Savannah Sutherland, raised in Borden and graduated from Saskatoon’s Bishop James Mahoney High School, is June’s Sask Sport athlete of the month.
The 21-year-old track and field athlete set four new records after racing to gold at the 2025 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
Sutherland attended the Championships in Oregon, where she finished first in the women’s 400-metre hurdles event with a time of 52.46 seconds, setting a new Canadian record, provincial record, NCCA championship record, and University of Michigan record.
Additionally, Sutherland was named women's track athlete of the year at the 2025 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field National Awards.
