The Yorkton Terriers received a major financial boost on Friday as the organizing committee of the 2025 Yorkton Terriers Celebrity Sports Dinner officially presented the team with a $60,000 cheque, raised through the highly successful annual fundraiser held last month.
Last year's inaugural dinner raised just over $80,000, with $60,000 of that money given to the SJHL’s Terriers last year and the other 20-thousand kept by committee for operating costs of future dinners.
“This kind of community support is what keeps the Yorkton Terriers going,” Terrier Head Coach Emery Olauson said, “We’re incredibly grateful to the committee, sponsors, volunteers, and fans who made this event possible. These funds help cover essential costs like travel, equipment, and development programs that benefit every player on our roster.”
The sold-out event featured Saskatchewan-born NHL legend Wendel Clark who shared stories from his storied career and spoke passionately about the importance of supporting junior hockey.
The Celebrity Sports Dinner has become a cornerstone fundraiser for the organization, combining the excitement of professional sports with the grassroots spirit of junior hockey.
Organizers are already looking ahead to 2026, hoping to build on the momentum of this year’s success and continue the tradition of celebrating hockey, community, and giving back.
