Weekly, SJHL media and personnel from around the province collaborate to rank the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League teams.  In Week one, the two-time defending champion Melfort Mustangs start the new season on top, with rest of the group in chase mode to start

The wait is almost over.

The 2025–26 Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League season drops the puck this weekend, and the first SportsCage SJHL Power Rankings set the tone for what’s ahead.

The Melfort Mustangs enter at #1, starting the year as the team to beat. Backed by a strong returning base and a championship core coming off back to back league titles they will be there until they get knocked off.

Right behind them are the Flin Flon Bombers at #2, a perennial contender with depth and experience, while the Humboldt Broncos slot in at #3 with veteran coach Brayden Klimosko continuing to put his own identity on his hometown team.

The Yorkton Terriers open at #4 under head coach Emery Olauson, now into his third season,  while their highway 10 rivals, Melville Millionaires round out the top five, aiming to take a big step forward.

The Kindersley Klippers sit at #6, followed by the Weyburn Red Wings (#7) and Nipawin Hawks (#8). The Battlefords North Stars begin at #9, under new Head Coach and former player Connor Logan at the helm.

The Estevan Bruins (#10), La Ronge Ice Wolves (#11), and the expansion Warman Wolverines (#12) complete the rankings. Warman will make history Friday, skating in their first-ever SJHL game at home against Humboldt.

Opening weekend promises plenty of rivalries and early-season storylines.

For now, Melfort wears the crown — but the chase for SJHL supremacy begins Friday night.
