The Melville Millionaires are proud to announce that graduating captain and defenceman Matt Kjemhus has committed to the University of Regina Cougars men’s hockey team, where he will continue both his academic and athletic pursuits in U Sports’ Canada West conference.
A respected leader on and off the ice, the 20-year-old Hythe, Alberta product wore the "C" for the Millionaires during the 2024–25 SJHL season. He registered seven goals and 22 assists for 29 points over 51 regular season games, while adding four assists in five playoff appearances.
“We’re incredibly proud of Jimmy—not just for his leadership here, but now as he advances to U Sports,” said Millionaires Head Coach and General Manager Doug Johnson. “This is exactly the path we hope for our players: growth, opportunity, and community impact.”
Kjemhus leaves behind an impressive junior career in Melville, having played 149 career games, tallying 14 goals and 34 assists during his time with the Millionaires.
He will join former teammate Noah Wills on the Cougars’ roster, now led by newly appointed head coach Trevor Keeper.
