SASKATOON – The Tony Cote First Nations Winter Games 2025 will be held in Saskatoon, April 18-24 with opening ceremonies, Parade of Nations, from 5 to 10 p.m. at Prairieland Park.

All community members, media representatives and supporters are invited to attend and celebrate this showcase of First Nation athletic excellence.

The games are hosted by Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation (PBCN) alongside the Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations (FSIN).

The games will include badminton, basketball, curling, volleyball, table tennis and hockey.

Organizers say the games are on track and ready to showcase the athletic talent of First Nations youth across Saskatchewan.

"Thanks to the extraordinary commitment and meticulous planning by Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation as our host nation, we are more prepared than ever to host a successful and memorable event," said Third Vice-Chief Fabian Head.

“We will ensure that all our athletes have a memorable time, and can showcase their skills, and athleticism. The Tony Cote First Nations Winter Games represent a cornerstone of First Nation sports development in Saskatchewan, promoting physical activity, community connection, and cultural pride.”

Peter A. Beatty, Chief of Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation, emphasized the importance of the games.

"Sports and recreation are fundamental to the well-being of our communities. Through our partnership with FSIN, we've worked tirelessly to ensure these Games will celebrate our youth's achievements while promoting healthy lifestyles and cultural connections.”
