NORTH BATTLEFORD — There’s no place like home. The North Battlefords Bevers will start the North Saskatchewan River Baseball League at home, playing Mervin Flyers May 12.

The full schedule can be found on the league’s website, https://www.nsrbl.com/teams/default.asp?u=NSRBL&s=baseball&p=schedule. You can also find the team’s roster on this same website.

The roster has held from last season says Kyle Gregoire, spokesperson for the North Battleford Beavers.

“We have a very similar roster to the last couple of years. We lost a couple of players but plan to have a couple new ones.”

The Beavers are back-to-back league champions and are looking to retain that momentum going into the 2025 season.

The team will also be submitting a team for a Baseball Sask provincial run this year.

“We will be planning to have multiple home Friday night double headers this regular season. Stay tuned for dates. Teams will be Unity and possibly another one.”

According to this newly released schedule, the Wilkie Brewers, who hold a long history of NSRBL success, will not be playing in this senior men’s baseball league this season.

Overseeing and leading the league for the 2025 season of the NSRBL will be Regan L’Heureux and Lorne Nielsen, sharing duties as co-commissioners.

With the Unity Cardinals retiring their 60-year-old baseball diamond after the 2024 season, visiting teams will now see a new diamond. However, it’s not quite ready to go just yet. Team spokesperson, Cory Wildeman, says they are looking for another diamond to use temporarily as phase one renovation work on the Cardinals diamond is being completed.

The diamond overhaul was set to take place in three phases. See previous stories on SASKTODAY. https://www.sasktoday.ca/north/unity-wilkie-press-herald/cardinal-ball-diamond-on-deck-for-revitalization-after-season-8582948
