The Saskatchewan Roughriders selected seven players in the 2025 CFL Draft.

With their first pick, the Roughriders selected DL Ali Saad as the fourth overall pick. The Windsor-born defensive lineman who played at Bowling Green told the SportsCage that he hopes to bring a physical element to Saskatchewan.

“I’m an aggressive player, I am a physical player, and I’m going just to go out there and try to make some plays.”

In the second round, the Roughriders used the 13th overall pick to select OL Erik Anderson. The 6-foot-5, 314-pound Anderson played in 38 games for Western and was twice named an All-Canadian.

The Roughriders brought their fans to their feet at their draft party when they announced quarterback Kurtis Rourke as their third-round pick, 25th overall.

Saskatchewan Vice President of Football Operations, Jeremy O’Day, says that they took a long-term look at Rourke.

“It’s a futures pick and something that may never happen. But when we looked at the potential of having him on your team, you can never have enough good quarterbacks. So, we thought that was the time we should take a shot on him.”

The Roughriders chose University of Saskatchewan Huskie linebacker Seth Hundeby in round four. In 42 games as a Huskie, he totalled 231 tackles, 15 tackles for loss, 11 sacks, five pass deflections, and two forced fumbles.

In the fifth round, 43rd overall, Saskatchewan added DL Liam Hoskins from Windsor. In 34 games over four seasons at the University of Windsor. The London, Ontario native recorded 104 total tackles, including 14 tackles for loss, eight sacks, three interceptions, six pass deflections, and one fumble recovery.

The Roughriders then selected University of Calgary DB Gideon Agyei with the 52nd pick. The 6-foot-2, 199-pound defensive back suited up in 21 games for the University of Calgary Dinos over four collegiate seasons. He recorded 59 total tackles, two interceptions, one returned for a touchdown, and 11 pass deflections. At the 2025 CFL Invitational Combine, Agyei clocked a 4.59-second 40-yard dash, ranking fourth overall and second among defensive backs.

With Saskatchewan’s final pick in the eighth round, 69th overall, the Riders picked up University of Saskatchewan Huskie receiver Daniel Wiebe. In 2024, with the Huskies, Wiebe set career highs with 67 receptions for 913 yards, averaging an impressive 13.6 yards per catch and a drop rate of just three percent. He added nine touchdowns and 507 yards after the catch.

Following the draft, O’Day felt it was a successful day for Saskatchewan.

“We had a lot of players that we put on our board that we like, and you’re not going to get them all. You’re going to make the picks that you can when you can, and what it came down to is the players that were available; we wanted to stay where we were.”
