YRHS volleyball teams busy on weekend

Starting on home court the Senior Girls Volleyball team took gold in their own tourney.

The YRHS senior team would finish round robin first in their pool then defeat a strong Martensville team in the semi finals 2-0.

YORKTON - It was a busy volleyball weekend for Yorkton Regional High School teams.

Starting on home court the Senior Girls Volleyball team took gold in their own tourney, with many top Saskatchewan teams in attendance.

The senior team would finish round robin first in their pool then defeat a strong Martensville team in the semi finals 2-0.

The Lady Raiders then went up against the number-one team in Saskatchewan the past few years - Swift Current, and beat them in a real exciting match 2-0.

The senior team went undefeated throughout the tournament.

The Senior Girls Prep Volleyball team also had another great weekend in action at the local tournament this past weekend. The girls beat Weyburn and took sets off of Martensville and Montmartre. 

This upcoming weekend the team is headed to Moose Jaw.

The Yorkton Regional High School Grade 9 Girls Volleyball Team participated in the Sacred Heart Junior Girls Tournament Saturday.

The team finished first in round robin play.

Then it was off to the championship match against Melville Comprehensive High School. After a three-set battle the YRHS team were victorious as tournament champs.  

In boys action the Senior Boys played in Swift Current on the weekend ending up in an 11th-place. 

After finishing with a record of 2-1 in the round robin of Moose Jaw's tournament, the Junior Boys volleyball team beat Balgonie Greenall in the quarter-final and Yorkton Sacred Heart in the semi before falling to Swift Current in straight sets in the gold medal match.

For their first time playing together, the boys quickly developed chemistry and all 12 players contributed to a solid second place result.
