UNITY — Tee times and tournaments are starting to dwindle as the golf season is slowly coming to a close, and with a recent addition to the Unity Golf Club, some members are excited to park their carts for the winter.
Rick Blanchette, president of the Unity Golf Club board, stated that the waiting list for golf cart storage had grown significantly over the past few years, but few spots were opening up as more locals were taking up the leisure sport. The board discussed building a third cart storage shed; however, funding would have to be secured.
“I reached out to a few of our regular donors, and we were fortunate enough to partner up with three sponsors: Delta Co-op, Unity Credit Union and Unity Wildlife Federation,” said Blanchette.
Work on the new building was soon underway, with local businesses and volunteers helping with construction. The club credited Bryce Aldred, Chris Berkie and James Alexander for much of the contribution in seeing the project completed on time and on budget.
Once completed, the three sponsors joined the board at the clubhouse to see which business would have their name on the new building. After a couple of luck of the draws, the newest building got the Delta Co-op sign, with the other two sponsors being recognized on the first two storage buildings.

All three of the storage buildings are fully powered, so members with rechargeable carts can recharge.
“Without the help of these three major sponsors, our non-profit golf club would not have the course we have today. We appreciate the assistance they have given us over the years, helping with updating the mowers and groundskeeping equipment to sponsoring men’s and ladies’ nights, we are grateful,” said Blanchette.
The Unity Golf Club is still open for a few more weeks for those players who play until the last day.
