STURGIS — The Sturgis Archery Club is now the Prairie to Pines Archery Club, a new name reflecting both the Endeavour and Sturgis ranges.
As the club prepares for the upcoming season, it also celebrated a summer filled with achievements. Many members stayed active during the off-season by competing in various tournaments and earning impressive results. At a 720 shoot on July 19, Linda Westermann placed first in the 50+ Compound Female category with a score of 440.
"The club was also well-represented at the Outdoor 3D Provincials, where our youth archers and coaches displayed their skills. Special congratulations to Liam Townsend, who secured second place in the Known U15 category with a score of 758, and Emerson Townsend, who earned third place in the U10 Unlimited category with a score of 487,” stated Billiejoe Townsend, club representative.
"Other members who competed included Linda Westermann (scored 561, Hunter Women), Sawyer Townsend (scored 655, Known U13), and Ross Townsend (scored 357, Known U13). Liam and Sawyer Townsend kept busy this summer by continuing their high-performance training and participating in outdoor shoots. They also maintained their skills by hunting and practicing at home with their own equipment, while keeping their bows in top condition at their local archery shop in Preeceville. Many other club members enjoyed outdoor shoots near and far this summer, supporting surrounding clubs in Saskatchewan.
"Get ready to register for the new season as it approaches quickly. Registration, orientation, and the first day of shooting in Endeavour are scheduled for Oct. 18. The first day of shooting in Sturgis will be Oct. 20."
The club will also hold its annual general meeting Nov. 15 in Endeavour. Everyone is welcome to attend.
"Looking to get more involved? The club is always eager to welcome new members, coaches and board members. A coach training clinic is planned for Jan. 18 and 19 in Endeavour. If you're interested in participating or have questions about joining, please contact the club. Season 2025/26 is just around the corner,” concluded Townsend.
