YORKTON — Athletes from the southeast corner of the province travelled to Yorkton for the Saskatchewan High Schools Athletics Association’s annual cross-country provincials.
The competition was held Oct. 11 at the Deer Park Golf Course. Male and female students in the intermediate division (under the age of 15 as of Aug. 31) ran a distance of three kilometres, while those in the junior (16 and under) and senior (18 and under) competed in four-kilometre races.
In the senior boys’ division, Adeon Sullivan from the Estevan Comprehensive School (ECS) finished 19th in a time of 14:23. Myles Lequyer of the Gordon F. Kells High School in Carlyle had a top-30 finish, coming in 27th at 14:48. Also competing were Jhafet Julian from the Oxbow Prairie Horizons School (16:33) and Vigo Orpiano of Stoughton Central School (18:29).,
In senior girls, Peyton Irwin of Oxbow was 36th with a time of 18:41. Isabelle Beriault, also of Oxbow, was right behind her in 39th at 19:00. Also competing were Klowie Foster of Stoughton Central School (22:17), Sarah Kamel of ECS (22:45) and Valeriia Osadko of ECS (25:10).
In junior boys, Henry Blue from ECS was 20th with a time of 15:11. Other competitors were Reagan Goudy of Stoughton (17:03), Dakota Anderson of the Midale Central School (17:06), Lucas Larose of Stoughton (17:15) and Pierson Berner of Stoughton (18:00).
In junior girls, Sofia Alfred-Dumas from the Carnduff Education Complex was 18th with a time of 18:25. Also competing were Ranessa Lees of Arcola School (20:07), Layla Shire of Gordon F. Kells (26:23) and Viktoriia Maidanska of ECS (28:38).
In intermediate boys, Wyatt Fuller from Gordon F. Kells was 23rd (11:53), while Nixon Simpson from Oxbow was 30th (11:58). Among those also competing were Kai Axten of Redvers School (12:38) and Brendan Ball of Oxbow (12:49).
In intermediate girls, Peyton Harper from Oxbow was the top area finisher in 20th with a time of 13:14. Ruby Lund from Midale was 28th (13:25), followed by Reese Dube of ECS (14:04), Sherryah Alfred-Dumas from Carnduff (15:00) and Alexa Brown of Alameda School (15:13).
