OUTLOOK — While the upcoming Thanksgiving long weekend is certainly a time for families to get together and sit down to a turkey meal, it's also traditionally a time for rip-roaring racing action from the Outlook Stock Car Association.
The club is gearing up for its annual Fall Classic weekend of action over Oct. 11-12 and organizers are looking forward to providing race fanatics with a weekend of dirt-flying entertainment out at the track just south of the Outlook landfill.
Meagan Lepage, representing the club says the Outlook race track is completely volunteer-ran and everyone routinely looks forward to the yearly October event, describing the Fall Classic as "an open invitational, fun event, last horrah for cars wanting to end their season."
This year's two-day event also pays tribute to one of the area's most well known figureheads in the local racing circuit, Wes 'Butch' Harrison, who dedicated many years to the Outlook stock car club and was highly respected and loved by many friends in the community. Harrison passed away in January of this year.
In response, this year's Fall Classic carries the title of being the Butch Harrison Memorial Open Invitational.
In addition to the races featuring modified, street and hobby stocks, as well as minis, trucks and a special 'run your junk' race, organizers say the weekend will feature a show and shine display and fireworks. Gates open at 10 a.m. with the green flag dropping at noon on both days.
Looking ahead to next year, the Outlook club has already decided on their racing weekends for the 2026 season. They include May 30-31, June 27-28, Aug. 8-9, Sept. 12-13 and Oct. 10-11.
