OUTLOOK — As the air turns crisper and Halloween nears, attention is shifting toward hockey season in rinks across Saskatchewan.
With that comes another exciting year for the Saskatchewan Junior Female Hockey League (SJFHL), which is now underway for its third season.
Formed in December 2022 by Hockey Saskatchewan and beginning play in 2023-24 as an under-22 league, the SJFHL has quickly built a reputation for competitive, entertaining hockey. The league originally featured six teams — the Lumsden Lynx, Outlook Mainline Ice Hawks, Regina Junior Rebels, Saskatoon Prairie Blaze, Southwest Impact, and Western Prairie Klippers.
Today, after some name changes and new sponsorships, the six teams competing in the SJFHL are the Taylor Toyota Lynx (Lumsden), Regina Wild (formerly the Junior Rebels), Southwest Impact (Swift Current), Saskatoon Prairie Blaze, Outlook Ice Hawks, and Western Prairie Klippers (Kindersley).
Two teams have hoisted the league championship so far — Saskatoon defeated Regina in March 2024 to claim the inaugural Bourgault Cup, followed by Regina winning this year’s title over Outlook. The Ice Hawks made league history by hosting the championship series two years in a row.

The league’s third season officially began on Oct. 11, when Outlook defeated Regina 3-2 and the Impact beat the Lynx 4-1. A rematch the next day saw the Lynx bounce back with a 4-3 win.
On Oct. 18, three games took place in Regina, Kindersley and Lumsden — the Wild beat the Prairie Blaze 7-1, the Ice Hawks downed the Klippers 9-2, and the Lynx topped the Impact 5-0. The next day, Regina blanked the Impact 9-0.
This coming weekend features more action with three games scheduled: Outlook meets Saskatoon in Martensville on Oct. 24, the Klippers visit Regina on Oct. 25, and the Lynx host the Klippers in Lumsden on Oct. 26.
