MOOSE JAW -- The South Rural Football League is only two weeks into the 2025 campaign and it’s already looking as if there’s going to be a whole lot more parity compared to previous seasons.
The Moose Jaw Peacock Tornadoes played a role in that, as after dropping a 22-7 decision to the Yorkton Raiders in their season opener last week, they were able to rebound with a 22-21 win over the Swift Current Colts in Swift Current on Friday night.
The Colts had opened the season with a 21-6 win at home over the perennial league powerhouse Weyburn Eagles, and thanks to Weyburn’s 13-11 win at home over Yorkton on Friday, all four teams are now tied for second place with 1-1 records.
The defending league champion Moose Jaw Central Cyclones did their part to stay above the fray, rolling to a 60-8 win over Estevan under the Friday Night Lights at Elks Athletic Field and improving to 2-0.
Scoring details for the games were unavailable.
League action continues on Friday when Yorkton travels to Estevan for a 7 p.m. start, while Saturday action sees the Balgonie Greenall Griffins (0-1) at Weyburn and Swift Current at Central, with kick-off for both those games at 1 p.m.
