The longest-serving President in Saskatchewan Rattlers history, Lee Genier, will not have his contract renewed by the team.
Canadian Basketball Ventures L.P. (CBV), the corporate entity that owns the Saskatchewan Rattlers, announced that Genier's contract will not be extended when it expires.
Genier was named the Rattler’s President when the Canadian Elite Basketball League launched the franchise in 2019.
Genier oversaw the Saskatchewan Rattlers hosting the CEBL’s first championship weekend, eventually winning the first league title.
After stepping away from the team in 2020, Genier returned in February of 2024. In a news release, the Rattlers thanked Genier for his efforts to bring professional basketball back to the province.
“Lee has been pivotal in shaping the Rattlers since the CEBL’s inception.”
Genier, whose resume includes time with the CFL’s Calgary Stampeders and NLL’s Saskatchewan Rattlers, was honoured to contribute to the CEBL’s growth.
“I’m proud of what we’ve built together—from the passionate fan base to the strong community ties—and I look forward to cheering on the team as it continues to thrive.”
