Prepare for a Saskatchewan showcase as Team Canada prepares to hit the ice next week for the 2024 Hlinka Gretzky Cup.
Whitewood's Reese Hamilton, a formidable defenceman, and standout forward Cole Reschny from Macklin will proudly don the maple leaf at this prestigious event, set to run from August 5th to 10th in Edmonton, Alberta.
Hamilton, in his first full season in the WHL, scored eight goals and tallying 23 assists, amassing an impressive 31 points in just 42 games for the Calgary Hitmen.
This 17-year-old rising star also represented Canada at last Fall’s World U17 Men's Hockey Championships and the 2024 IIHF Men’s Under 18 Championships this past Spring.
Reschny, meanwhile, had an exceptional rookie season in the WHL.
He lit up the scoreboard with 21 goals and 38 assists, racking up a total of 59 points across 61 games for the Victoria Royals.
His stellar performance earned him second place in team scoring and the fifth spot among all WHL rookies.
Swift Current Broncos defenceman Peyton Kettles was also named to the squad.
The Hlinka Gretzky Cup is a highly anticipated annual event held each August, known for being the only best-on-best competition at the U18 level.
Hockey enthusiasts, mark your calendars—Team Canada will kick off the tournament on Monday, August 5th, against Switzerland.
