MOOSE JAW -- The Prince Albert Raiders have yet to lose in regulation in Western Hockey League action this season, and that paid off for Hockeytown North in the most recent edition of the SportsCage WHL Eastern Conference power rankings.
The Raiders defeated the Regina Pats 6-4 on Friday before taking a 5-4 overtime victory over the Brandon Wheat Kings on Saturday, improving to 3-0-1-0 on the campaign.
That success, combined with taking three out of four points off the Saskatoon Blades on opening weekend, saw Prince Albert make the biggest jump of the week into first place in the rankings.
The Edmonton Oil Kings lost their lone game of the week 6-3 to the Calgary Hitmen and drop out of top spot into second, remaining a single rankings point ahead of the Moose Jaw Warriors.
The Warriors remain unbeaten at 3-0 after a win Saturday against the Swift Current Broncos. Moose Jaw holds down third place for the second-straight week.
Thanks to their win over Edmonton, Calgary moves up two spots into fifth and are 2-1 on the campaign; the Red Deer Rebels downed Lethbridge 4-2 on Saturday and jump two spots to eighth with a 1-2 record.
The Medicine Hat Tigers had the biggest fall this week, with a 6-3 loss to Swift Current Friday and 4-1 win over Saskatoon Saturday seeing the defending WHL champs drop two spots from second to fourth.
The SportsCage Eastern Conference Power Rankings are compiled each week by a group of long-time WHL observers and take into account recent play alongside the current standings.
