The Yorkton Terriers wrapped up a successful preseason weekend with a pair of victories over the Dauphin Kings.

On Saturday night in Dauphin, the Terriers erased an early 2–0 deficit on their way to a 5–3 comeback win. A late first-period power play goal from Austin Horbachewsky sparked the rally, before Jake Briltz, Dylan Ruff, and Aidan Vallance all found the back of the net during a dominant second period.

Trae Petersen added insurance in a heated third that featured multiple ejections. Yorkton’s special teams were sharp, finishing 3-for-9 on the power play, while heavily outshooting Dauphin 69–11.

The momentum carried into Sunday afternoon at the Westland Arena, where Yorkton edged Dauphin 4–3 to complete the sweep.

Owen Roberts opened the scoring, and Horbachewsky struck twice more—including a shorthanded tally. Gabriel Courchesne’s third-period marker stood up as the game-winner, while goaltender Alexandro Montoya stopped 26 shots to secure the win.

Meanwhile, the Melville Millionaires split their preseason home-and-home series with the Weyburn Red Wings.

On Friday night in Weyburn, the Millionaires erupted for five unanswered third-period goals to skate away with a 6–2 victory at the Whitecap Resources Centre. After Leo Jewitt tied the game late in the first, the teams played through a scoreless middle frame. Trailing 2–1 early in the third, Melville seized control as Yibin Yoo pulled them even before Rylan Oatman netted the go-ahead marker. Sam Laplante struck twice—including an empty-netter—while Alex Morrison added an unassisted tally to cap the comeback.

Back on home ice Saturday, the Mils built leads of 3–0 and 4–2 but couldn’t hold on, ultimately falling 5–4 in a shootout. Weyburn’s Lucas Schmid scored the decisive marker in the seventh round. Oatman paced Melville’s attack with a goal and two assists, while second-year forward Preston Baerwald chipped in with a goal and a helper.

The Millionaires are back in action Tuesday night when they host the Waywayseecappo Wolverines, before closing out their preseason with a home-and-home against the Yorkton Terriers on Friday and Saturday.
