ESTEVAN BRUINS 6, YORKTON TERRIERS 3

The Estevan Bruins exploded for three quick goals in the opening 8:19 and never looked back, skating to a 6-3 divisional victory over the Yorkton Terriers on Tuesday night.

Rylan Williams paced the Bruins with a pair of goals and an assist, while Noah Asmundson, Ewan Rennie, Oliver Kramp, and Ethan Andrews also found the back of the net.

Thomas Ries scored twice for Yorkton, with Vinay Junek adding the other.

Between the pipes, Brady Carr stopped 39 of 42 shots to secure the win for Estevan. On the other side, Terrier rookie Alexandro Montoya turned aside 23 of 28 shots in his SJHL debut.

The Terriers visit Humboldt on Friday to face the Broncos, while the Bruins hit the road the same night to battle the Nipawin Hawks.

NIPAWIN HAWKS 3, MELVILLE MILLIONAIRES 2

Van Taylor’s power-play marker with 6:30 remaining in regulation stood as the game-winner, lifting the Nipawin Hawks to a 3-2 road win over the Melville Millionaires on Tuesday.

Mason Karakochuk and Will Whitter also scored for Nipawin, while Brendan Olson provided both tallies for Melville. The game was knotted 1-1 after the first period and 2-2 through 40 minutes before Taylor’s late heroics.

Hawks goaltender Gage Roberts made 37 saves on 39 shots for the win, while Melville’s Kael Svenson stopped 27 of 30.

The Millionaires now turn their attention to a weekend home-and-home with the Weyburn Red Wings, beginning Friday on the road before hosting Saturday’s rematch.
