The Regina Thunder opened the Prairie Football Conference season with a come-from-behind 31-16 win over the Edmonton Huskies.

The Thunder trailed 13-6 at halftime but rallied for the victory thanks to Peter Boersh's 310 rushing yards. His longest run of the day went for 92 yards.

Quarterback Adam Mosher was 9 of 19 for 130 yards and two touchdowns. Receiver Tanner Donovel led the way with six catches for 61 yards and a touchdown. Lucas DI Iorio and Andrew Sweeney each grabbed five receptions.

The Thunder defence was led by linebacker Devin Baumann, who had six defensive tackles, while defensive back Cooper Filazek chipped in five tackles.

In week two, the Thunder will travel to Calgary on Sunday, August 17, for an afternoon matinee with the Colts.

In other week one action in the Prairie Football Conference, the Rifles upset the Saskatoon Hilltops 31-11 in Winnipeg, and the Edmonton Wildcats scored a 35-19 win over the Calgary Colts.
