Saskatchewan Roughriders' defensive back Tevaughn Campbell made a rare game-clinching, pick-two interception in the Labour Day Classic.

"Catch it," Campbell said about this thought process when he saw the ball in the air. "I think I stumbled a bit, but I got in the end zone. I was tired, out of breath, and I was excited."

Campbell had a feeling the ball could be coming his way based on the offensive play call by Winnipeg as Zach Collaros floated a ball intended for Dalton Schoen.

"We knew they were coming together in a stack, so we knew it was an in-and-out," Campbell said. "My field half, [DaMarcus] Fields and I were working together, so I knew I had to jump the out -- I knew it was coming -- and make the play."

Campbell’s cohort, defensive lineman Malik Carney was understandably elated for his teammate.

“That's a win,” Carney said. "That was a great play by him, great read, great pick -- good for him to take it back.”

Riders' head coach Corey Mace detailed the relief he felt after how well the Bombers offence played to get Winnipeg back in the game.

“They were doing such a good job offensively trying to force us into some things, moving the ball with RPOs and stuff like that,” Mace said. “I can't remember who it was, maybe [Habakkuk] Baldonado got in his face a little bit and he had to put a little bit of air on it. What a play by TC, once he touches it, I don't know who's going to catch him."

Saskatchewan defeated the Blue Bombers 34-30 for the 60th Labour Day Classic. The six-foot, 195-pound defensive back finished the game with two defensive tackles and one interception.

"We made it too close to begin with, but we don't give up," Campbell said. "There's no quitting, we keep going to the last whistle, to the last second. I can't thank the defence enough."

In 2025, the 32-year-old Campbell has started 10 games for the Riders, accumulating 18 defensive tackles, four interceptions, one returned for a touchdown, which ties him for the most interceptions in the CFL.
