Frank McCrystal’s induction into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame’s Class of 2025, in the Builder category, is a fitting tribute to a lifetime of leadership, vision, and impact on Canadian football.

His connection to the Regina Rams spans over four decades—first as a championship-winning player in the 1970s, then as head coach from 1981 to 2014. Under his leadership, the Rams captured seven Canadian Bowl titles and made a smooth transition to university football in 1999. Within a year, they claimed the Hardy Cup, reached the Vanier Cup, and developed talent that would go on to the CFL and NFL.

McCrystal’s accolades—including two CJFL Coach of the Year awards and the CIS Coach of the Year honor in 2007—highlight not just a record of success, but a commitment to excellence and mentorship.

As a Builder, his influence runs deeper than championships. McCrystal expanded opportunities for young athletes through scholarships, better facilities, and a culture of growth in Saskatchewan football.

His Hall of Fame induction, set for September 19 in Hamilton, recognizes more than wins—it honours the foundation he built. Frank McCrystal didn’t just lead teams—he shaped the future of the game.
