ESTEVAN — The Estevan Trap Club hosted the eighth annual Pump ‘N Thump and registered shoots Sept. 20 and 21 at their facility south of Estevan.

Fifteen registered shooters from Saskatchewan, Alberta and Manitoba attended the competitions. Singles, doubles and handicap registered targets were thrown on both days for a total of 7,800 targets.

Winners of the singles events were John Nuttall, Jason Sparwood and Dace Tamblyn on Sept. 20. Richie Joynt, Dale Shackleton and Tamblyn won the singles events on the second day. Shackleton took top honours in the handicap event Sept. 20 and Rickie Joynt of Alexander, Man., was the winner on the second.

Doubles events were won by Nuttall, Sparwood and Shackleton on Sept. 20, and Rickie Joynt, Sparwood and Duke Gooding of Estlin on Sept. 21.

On. Sept. 20, 14 shooters participated in the Pump ‘N Thump evening event under the lights. The event includes 15 singles, 20 doubles and 15 handicap targets. The Amateur Trapshooting Association winner was local Reg King. Second place went to Sparwood, and Shackleton was third. The non-registered shooter event was won by local Keegan Stepp.

The evening concluded with a nighttime glow-in-the-dark clay shoot which was added this year. It takes place under black lights making the clay targets glow. This is a new twist to the game, and it’s available for group activity bookings.

The club will shoot Tuesdays and Thursdays at 5:30 p.m. until the last evening shoot Oct. 2. They will end the evening with a nighttime glow-in-the dark competition. Sunday afternoon shoots will start Oct. 5 and continue until the end of October.
