UNITY — The season for football has been an exciting one, as the West-Central high school teams continue to fight for a spot at conferences.
The Biggar Blazers were set to host the Macklin Sabres on Sept. 18; however, the game had to be postponed.
The Unity Warriors had their home opening game, with Maple Creek visiting for the first time. The Redmen were having a hard time finding their rhythm for most of the game, only scoring six points early on. The Warriors showed their fans what they are made of, scoring touchdown after touchdown. In the final quarter, the Redmen found a few opportunities to redeem themselves, yet the lead the home team had was substantial enough for the win, 56-21.
The following night, the Kerrobert Rebels hosted the Plenty Wildcats under the lights. Although Plenty tried to bring home the win, it was the Rebels who kept the pressure on, winning the game 43-22.
Six teams will go head-to-head on Sept. 26, with Macklin hosting Plenty, Maple Creek hosting Eatonia and Unity hosting Rosetown for their annual pink night under the lights. All games are set to kick off at 7 p.m.
