OUTLOOK - Fans of steer-wrestling, bronco-busting rodeo are looking forward to this weekend in Outlook as a summertime event once again returns to the riverside community.
The sixth annual Riverbank Rodeo is taking place this Friday and Saturday, August 8 & 9 at the new event grounds located just behind the Jim Kook Rec Plex.
The rodeo's former home used to be the grounds just south of LCBI High School in the northwest part of town, but after a deal was reached between the committee and the Town of Outlook, the event is set to take place at the new grounds behind the rink for years to come.
In fact, after some work done by the event organizing team, a quick search on Google Maps for 'Riverbank Rodeo Arena Outlook' will actually give people the exact location in time for this weekend's events.
With the rodeo action taking center stage such as steer wrestling, bronco busting, barrel racing, roping, and bull riding, there are also buckle prizes up for grabs and families may want to head out on Saturday afternoon for the Irrigation Capital Kids Zone activities, including mutton busting, face painting, bouncy castles, a bale treasure hunt, and potato sack races.
In addition to the action on the rodeo grounds, the Van Raay and Community Swimming Pool next to the site is offering free swimming all day on Saturday from noon until 9:00 pm that evening.
When all the dirt has settled for the night and the rodeo has wrapped, cabaret shows on both nights featuring classic country and rock group Lenny and the Gypsies will be on hand to entertain the crowd.
The main rodeo performances on both Friday and Saturday start at 7:00 pm.
